ATFI facilitates gender mainstreaming among its partner rural communities. It sees that gender equity in all aspects of farm production, of reproductive activities in rural households and of gender cooperation in farmers’ organization, as an imperative for equitable development. From 2010, ATFI promoted women community enterprises to mitigate the lopsided income opportunities in the male-dominated nature of the sugar industry. In 2021-23, ATFI assisted three rural women associations in gender mainstreaming and women enterprise development and campaigned for local government resolutions assisting rural women livelihood.
